Introducing FORO, Roman-style pizza and pasta!
FORO is named after the Roman Forum, the social heart of ancient Rome. This is Roman food. In York. We cook it the way it is cooked in Rome —without adapting the recipes.
Chef Alessandro Venturi grew up between Rome and professional kitchens in Italy and France, developing a strong connection with traditional cooking and regional food cultures. He was also part of the Roman hip-hop scene, where music and creativity shaped his early years. He trained under Michelin-starred chef Vitantonio Lombardo in Matera.

The History of The Fossgate Tap
Fossgate Tap, formerly Sutlers, is situated in the heart of medieval York. It sits on the corner of Fossgate, a stone’s throw from York’s most iconic street, The Shambles.
This Grade II listed building dates back c1796 and previously traded as ‘The Army and Navy Store’ for 93 years. Many of the original fixtures and fittings remain; retaining the building’s historical charm.
Spread over three floors, we have an assortment of spaces that are perfect for groups both large and small. Our vibrant menu is designed to compliment our wide range of craft beer, cocktails, quality cask ale and world gins.
